FCTA Settles Medical Expenses Of Karu CNG-Laden Truck Accident Victims

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has offered to foot medical bills of all the casualties from the Karu CNG-Laden truck accident.
This is as he expressed deep sympathy with the victims and those who lost their loved ones in the unfortunate accident.
Noting that the accident was avoidable, the Minister expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, and directed treatment of those who sustained injuries.
Wike, who made this revelation, said he had directed the Secretary, Health and Environment, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, to ensure prompt treatment of the injured.
According to him, “the Mandate Secretary, Health and Environment, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, was in Asokoro District Hospital, till this morning and she was among the medical personnel who attended to the 17 casualties brought to the hospital”.
His words: “She briefed me that after initial stabilization, seven of the 17 received were referred to National Hospital, six with minor injuries were treated successfully, three with severe burns and inhalation and crush injuries are currently receiving treatment. However, one of the casualties with third degree burns passed away while being resuscitated.”
The Minister, therefore, called on road users, especially heavy duty vehicle drivers to always be cautious and adhere to speed limits while driving; saying that it was painful that precious lives were lost and vehicles destroyed in an accident that could have been avoided.
