Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Dapa-Gomani-Yangoji road project.

He stated that the 13-kilometre road will be inaugurated in June as part of celebrations marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The Minister said this on Thursday, 14 May 2026, after inspection of the road in Gomani, Kwali Area Council, FCT.

Wike emphasized that the project aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to decentralize infrastructure development and open up satellite towns to curb rural-urban migration.

“When we came on board, one of the directives of Mr. President is that we should not concentrate the provision of infrastructure just in the cities; we must open up all the satellite towns,” he said.

The Minister stated that the Dapa-Gomani-Yangoji road is part of a broader corridor, with the earlier A2 to Pai section already inaugurated by the President during his second year in office.

Wike disclosed that with the bridge already launched, drainage is 90-95 per cent optimized, and streetlight pillars are being installed; he was very encouraged.

He commended Zeberced Construction Company for maintaining quality and timelines, promising the road would be ready for inauguration in June.

“I commend the contractor, Zeberced, for not only providing quality jobs, but also keeping to the timeline, making promises that we will inaugurate this road this June. I’m happy,” Wike stated.

The Minister expressed confidence that the President would be pleased to see development extending to satellite towns. “I believe that when Mr. President comes here, it will be a thing of joy for him to see that development is passing through all the satellite towns,” he said.

Speaking on the alleged People Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied People’s Movement (APM) merger, Wike described it as a fraudulent scheme orchestrated by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

He said that the rumours were a smokescreen for Governor Makinde’s own political maneuvers.

”There’s no alliance between PDP and APM. It is an imagination of Seyi Makinde. It has now confirmed what we told Nigerians… these guys are very, very fraudulent,” Wike stated.

“What you have is Seyi Makinde joining APM to be able to actualize his presidential ambition, which is already dead-on arrival.”

The Minister called on observers to wait for the official candidate submissions to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to verify that the PDP is standing alone.

When questioned about the recent statements from the Governor of Rivers State regarding his status within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wike refused to be drawn into the internal crises of the opposition.

He said, “I don’t have to go and drink another person’s Panadol. I am not in APC. Ask me about PDP, and I will answer you.”

The Minister stated that every party has its “small problems” and that the Rivers Governor’s commitment to the APC is an internal matter for that party to resolve.
