Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, on Monday, 1st June, 2026, inspected two critical infrastructural projects in Kubwa and Yangoji,
He expressed satisfaction with the progress and affirming the readiness of the projects for commissioning as part of President Bola Tinubu’s third-year anniversary celebrations.
Barr.Wike who made this confirmation while speaking to journalists after the inspection, noted that the Gbazango road is among the projects slated for commissioning next week, starting Monday, June 8.
“We never gave any notice that we were coming here,” he said, emphasizing the spontaneous nature of the visit. “Truly, we’re happy. The company has done good work with the drainages. You can see that on the street lights, they have finished all the pillars. So, the people are happy, and we are also happy.”
The Minister linked the projects to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that they exemplify governance aimed at improving lives.
“They never believed that they could have this road. They never had any impact on government or governance before. But now, they currently know what government is all about: changing their lives, bringing good things to them. That’s the essence of the Renewed Hope agenda,” Wike remarked.
When asked about the political implications of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal’s recent exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Wike dismissed notions of a strong opposition coalition.
“We have been vindicated,” he asserted, referencing his earlier media comments. “If you’re a politician, you will understand that the structure was set for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. There’s no coalition… Nothing is strong. Nothing.” He added that the development underscores a clear path for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The Minister stated that the inspection tour underscores the FCT Administration’s push to deliver tangible projects ahead of the presidential anniversary.
He commended Zeberced Limited company for adhering to project terms and reiterated the government’s commitment to sustaining developmental momentum. “We will continue to do what makes the people happy,” he said. “After all, governance is all about improving the lives of people.”
