Zuma Festival ‘ll Build Collaboration, Cultural Exchange -Mahmoud

FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has said that this year’s Zuma Film Festival will showcase cinematic creativity in the nation’s capital and build collaboration, inspiration, and cultural exchange.

Mahmoud stated this at a press briefing at Istanbul Cafe and Restaurant, Jabi District, Abuja to announce the 2024 Zuma International Film Festival on Tuesday.

She stressed that in a world of increasing storytelling, contribution of the film industry was critical in bridging cultures and igniting conversations.

Calling on the participants to embrace the opportunity to honour the collective passion for the growth of arts, Mahmoud called on the Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, to put in place modalities that would sustain and outlive the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Her words: “To us in the nation’s capital, this festival is not just a showcase of cinematic creativity; it is a vibrant platform that builds collaboration, inspiration, and cultural exchange.”

“In a world increasingly shaped by visual storytelling, your contributions are vital in bridging cultures and igniting conversations. In line with the 2024 theme: “Digital Renaissance: Embracing the Future”, this year’s festival promises to spotlight diverse narratives that resonate with our shared humanity, reminding us of the power of film to challenge perceptions and spark change,” she added.

According to her, “therefore, let all of us embrace this opportunity to honour our collective passion for the arts, support one another, and celebrate the remarkable talent that each of you brings to the screen. I also call on my colleague, the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, to put in place modalities that will sustain and outlive the present administration of President Bola Tinubu”.

In her remarks, Acting Director, Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, said that the FCT Administration was committed to the growth of creativity industry, and would always provide the enabling environment for the industry to thrive.

She commended the organisers for coordination so far and the zeal to drive the film festival.

The week long event is scheduled to hold between 1st and 5the December.
