FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has commended the pace and quality of work on two on-going construction of two bus terminals in Abuja.
Expressing this commendation during inspection of work on the two projects in Mabushi and Kugbo, the Minister said he was hopeful of the January completion deadline for the projects; adding that the projects would impact Abuja’s landscape.
His words: “I am so excited. This site was flagged off on July 1, and within three months, you can see what they have been able to do. The time given to them is 15 months to complete the project, but with the speed the contractor is going, we believe it will be done before that time.”
“He (the contractor) has also told us that by January, he will deliver those projects in Mabushi and Kugbo to us”, he added.
Highlighting that the terminals would positively reposition Abuja’s transportation system, improve efficiency and reduce congestion, the Minister assured FCT residents that mobility within the city would be significantly enhanced.
He continued: “By the time we finish these terminals, you don’t need to be having those ones (unpainted taxis on the roads). We won’t allow buses and taxis to pick and drop on the roads. Everybody has to move to the various terminals”.
Abuja Digest reports that the FCT Minister, had, in July, performed ground breaking ceremonies for the construction of three bus/taxi terminals, the third one being cited at the land beside the Abuja Eagle Square, in front of the Federal Secretariat Complex in the Central Business District.
