Majeed Ashimeru scored in the 36th minute for Ghana but the goal was disallowed by VAR for offside.

The Blue Sharks defended gallantly amd went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Garry Rodrigues scored a stoppage-time winner as Cape Verde beat Chris Hughton’s four-time winners Ghana 2-1 to go top of Group B in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Rodrigues took advantage of a mix-up in the Ghana defence to tap the ball into an empty net and give his side a deserved victory in Abidjan.

The loss leaves the Stars rooted to the bottom of Group B, behind of Egypt and Mozambique, who played out a 2-2 draw and have a point each.
