The Nigerians took their lead to the dressing room after the 45th minute with their fans expecting them to shine in the second half.

With lots of German flags waving in the stands, the European side did not lack support whenever they went forward and pulled level just four minutes into the second half, with Svea Stoldt getting on the end of a corner from the left

The German comeback was completed on the hour mark when a player of the match Mara Alber struck to give them the perfect start to their campaign.

Nigeria will take on New Zealand in their second game on Friday, 14 October, and coach Bankole Olowookere and his wards must get a good result for them to remain in the tournament.
