Commuters along the busy Nyanya-Abuja Expressway will hieve a sigh of relief as the FCT Administration moves to ensure completion of the Nyanya Bus Terminal.

This is as the Administration has approved completion of the long awaited bus terminal, designed to tackle traffic bottlenecks on that axis.

A statement released to the media on Tuesday by the Director, Department of Information and Communication, Muhammad Hazat Sule, has said that the decision was reached at the FCT EXCO meeting of yesterday, Monday 8th April, 2023.

The statement reads in part: “The Federal Capital Territory Executive Committee (FCT EXCO) has approved the completion of the Nyanya Bus Terminal project situated in Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja.

“Completion of the Bus Terminal is expected to curtail traffic gridlock in and from the Nyanya axis into the Federal Capital City, Abuja.

“It may be recalled that the development of the new Terminal at Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja was conceived by the FCT Administration as a result of the multiple bomb blasts at the temporary Nyanya Bus Terminal, on the 14th April, 2014”.

According to the statement, the Bus Terminal which sits on a six-hectare land mass in Nyanya is bounded by Karu and Karshi interchanges off the Abuja-Keffi Federal Highway.

It disclosed that the EXCO approval also includes associated external works such as access road corridors to the project site, general redesign of the layout to reflect appropriate land use and ensure comfort of motorists plying the route.

The FCT EXCO meeting, which was presided by the FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, was also attended by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Olusade Adesola, Chief of Staff to the Minister, Bashir Mai-Bornu, as well mandate Secretaries, some aides and Directors of the Administration.
