FCT Celebrates First Babies Of 2025

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will set up a structure to celebrate birthdays for the first babies born in the Territory on the first day of January every year.

Mandate Secretary of Women Affairs Secretariat in the FCT Administration, Dr. Adedayo Benjamin-Laniyi, disclosed this during visits to the Six Area Councils of the FCT to welcome and celebrate new babies born on the first day of January 2025.

Benjamin-Laniyi stated that for the fact that the babies are the first to be born in the FCT in the year, they will remain first and have become priority of Administration.

The Mandate Secretary, who prayed for the well-being of the babies presented gifts including cash to parents of the babies on behalf of the FCT Administration and urged the parents to ensure that the babies are properly taken care of.

She enjoined the parents to ensure that the first babies are raised up to be good citizens of the country.

Also speaking during the visits, the Acting Executive Secretary of the FCT Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ruqayya Wamako, pledged that the first babies will enjoy free under five health services till they attain the age of five.

According to her, these services include routine immunisation and other child care services.

She advised the parents to ensure that the babies are brought to FCT Primary health facilities to access these services.

The FCT first babies were selected from deliveries at FCT Primary health care facilities across the six Area Councils of the FCT on the 1st day of January 2025.

Abuja Digest reports that the highpoint of the visit was at Karonmajiji Primary health care centre where a baby was born to a physically challenged mother and a visually impaired father.
