The Church and Christian leaders in the Federal Capital Territory have been challenged to mobilize their members to regularly embark on Christian Pilgrimage to Holy Land.

Accordingly, embracing pilgrimage is a major way of deepening their Christian faith and enriching their experience with God.

The Acting Director, FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mrs. Rahila Isa- Baita gave this challenge at a meeting with leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), FCT Chapter at Christ Victory Life Church International, Area 1, Abuja.

The Director said that the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board is Intensifying its efforts to mobilize Christians in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, to regularly embark on pilgrimages to Holy lands, because of its immense spiritual benefits.

Baita recalled that the Board had earlier embarked on similar sensitization and mobilization to Area Councils in the FCT to call on members of various denominations to to take advantage of spiritual voyage.

Her words: “We at the FCT CPWB, will continue to talk, lobby, preach, pursue and persevere until, every Christian in the Territory is aware of the need to regularly embark on pilgrimage to Holy lands and begin to actively prepare to participate.”

“I am aware that you all are Pastors of congregations and Church leaders, from the six Area councils of the FCT. I urge you all to share with your Church members, what you have personally experienced during your visit to the various sacred sites, on the spiritual significance of pilgrimage, and the need to encourage wealthy Church members to sponsor the less privileged in the Churches and the society, to go on pilgrimage, because the experience is spiritually uplifting,” she added.

The Ag. Director, informed the clergymen that the main pilgrimage for the year 2023, will now be holding in February 2024 and it will be to Rome, Greece and most likely Turkey.

She also informed them that pilgrimage with the Government has numerous advantages over pilgrimage done privately by churches and individuals; appealing to them to purchase their forms from the FCT CPWB with the sum of N10,000 per intending pilgrim.

Responding, CAN Chairman, FCT Chapter, Rev. Timothy Amakom, appreciated the Board for sensitizing the gathering of Pastors of Pastors of very large congregations; assuring the Ag. Director that the message will be passed on very quickly to the entire Christian community in the FCT.

“Pilgrimage is very important that our Lord Jesus went on pilgrimage with His parents every year to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, as recorded in Luke 2: 40-52. When you go to Israel and see those things and places we read about in the Bible, your faith will greatly increase. There are lots of testimonies that accompany pilgrimage,” he reiterated.
